Nothing much going on
Nothing very interesting has really happened. I was supposed to go to Portland, but we couldn't get a hotel room in downtown Portland, so we decided to move our trip to next weekend. Now we have a hotel room so everything is set; we are going to Portland this weekend. Yey.
Last week was really quite busy, but still nothing really interesting happened. It was midterm week, so I had a lot of tests and quizes and things to turn in. That kept me busy. Tuesday I went to a birthday lunch. One of my Asian friends had a birthday. She turned 19, which is quite young really. I am old here. I am used to being the young one, now I am the old one.
On Wednesday was Valentine's Day. I went to eat dinner with my roommates and a friend, because we all were either single or in long distance relationships and did not want to be alone on Valentine Day's night. It was an Italian restaurant. The food was quite good. Had a very nice time chatting with my friends.
I don't really remember what I did on Thursday. Odd really, I haven't a clue. :) How can you just forget a day? I think I went shopping with Daniela. Yes, actually that is what I did. I finished my language teaching book evaluation and went shopping with Daniela. I bought two new sweaters that weren't that expensive, actually they were quite cheap.
The weekend went nicely, even though I didn't go to Portland. I had a massage on Friday, which was quite nice. Then I met with Nina and Salla and we planned our spring break. We bought tickets for a plane from Portland to Vancouver. We decided to go to Canada. We will stay there for a few days and then go by bus to Seattle, which is only about an hour away. There we will also stay a few days and come back here by bus. The bus ride will take about 6 and a half hours. I hope I can take it, I'm not very good with busses. Apparently there is a stop about halfway to Eugene so that's good. We haven't yet decided exactly what to do at those places. There are some things we want to do, but we are still planning. Went to the international coffee hour but did not go to dinner with my friends. I was so tired I just went home. I spent some time with my roommates and then watched Ocean's 12 on dvd. Jenn lent it to me. I had forgotten just how good it was. Had a nice and relaxing evening.
Saturday I went swimming at the rec center with Nina. It was such a nice day Saturday, very warm, almost like summer. Unfortunately it got cold at about four o'clock, so that wasn't nice anymore. Funny thing really that the flowers have already started to come out of the ground. I am not used to that in February. Went to the movies with Daniela in the evening, to the movie theater that shows older movies and only costs 2 dollars. We watched The Holiday, with Cameron Diaz, Kate Winslet, Jude Law and Jack Black. It was a very good movie. I liked it a lot. I have to buy it on dvd when I go back to Finland.
On Sunday Nina, Salla and I first went to the Asian celebration. It was New Year according to their moon calendar (or whatever calendar it it) and since there are a lot of Asians in Eugene it was a big thing. I tasted sushi for the first time there. After that we went to the Pompels and had dinner with them and also had a sauna. It was fun. A lovely dinner by Linda as always. She's leaving for India at the end of this week. Going to stay there almost a month. It sounds so great, I hope she has fun. Their son-in-law is from Tibet and she is going to India to see his relatives. Linda and Dave were there two years ago as well. We saw lots of pictures. Dave is staying here this time so we promised to look after him. ;) We already made plans to make him dinner some day.
But that's it for now. Have fun you guys!

Hello, hello!
You seem to be as busy as always there. Time must be flying by. Nice to know you have a trip planned. Remember to make sure it's OK with you visas (not the credit card ;))to go back and forth to Canada though.
Nothing much to report from here. Still winter, no flowers. But a nice amount of snow for once.
Working late for once since I got the parents' car...
Take care!

I was just about to tell you to find out about the going abroad thing. I think you have to notify someplace.
Good thing you are gong somewhere for spring break. I mean it is like the only spring break you will ever have, right? :) Sounds like it should be fun.

I know what I have to do when going out of the country. Did you really think I wouldn't look into it? But thanks for the help anyway. :)

Sorry about unnecessary advice. Better safe than sorry though.
But greeting from Germany! Someone only has 4 more days of work. Fun, fun, fun.
