Getting ready to go
Boy am I stressed. There are a lot of things that I have to take care of before leaving, and I'm afraid I'll forget something. And to top off all the stressing about my trip, I have had school stuff to think about. Today I sent in an essay I had to do. And tomorrow is my last exam, and also the last thing I have to do this fall. Then my vacation begins. That means that my vacation begins tomorrow at about four o'clock. Happy happy joy joy!
So anyway, I finally heard from the people at the University of Oregon concerning the homestay -program. This means that I now have a place to go to in Eugene. I am going to stay with an older couple for a few days before I get my own place. I thought I was going to be staying at a student's appartment, since that is what they told me would happen. But now they're telling me that I'm going to live with this couple. It's probably a good thing, though. It will most likely be much more comfortable there than in a little appartment. I still have a little problem. I can go live with them from January 3rd to 7th, but I am going to be in Oregon January 1st. I guess I'll have to stay at a hotel two nights.
I have strated getting my hands on small bottles that I am going to put my shampoo, soap, moisturizing cream and other liquid stuff in, since they have to fit in a one liter bag. Because I am taking four planes to get to Portland, I am quite sure they will loose my luggage. That is why I need to take everything I might need for about a week with me in the bag I am taking inside the plane. That sentence sounded weird. Well anyway, I'll also have to take a change of clothes. And all this plus some other stuff have to fit into my bookbag. I wonder how I will pull that off.
My New Year will be quite interesting this year. I'm going to leave early in the morning on January 1st, so no partying for me. Jussi and I have planned to celebrate New Years in Helsinki, so that we won't have to drive there late at night. And Fiona, my puppy dog, will maybe come too. Wanna take Jussi in for the night (or morning actually), Elina and Jaakko?
So Christmas is getting nearer, and so is my leaving. In a way I am looking forward to Christmas, but in a way I am not. The closer it comes, the closer my trip comes. I will miss Jussi and Fiona a lot, and everyone else too. But this is what I wanted to do, so there's no turning back now. And it's only six months. That's not such a long time, I think.
Most likely the next time I'll write, I'll be in Eugene. Maybe. But Merry Christmas everyone and a Happy New Year! :)
